Our Mission

For over two decades, we’ve lived and breathed documentary photography. PLATFORM 2020 exists to champion artists from Africa and SWANA, amplifying voices too often overlooked and placing them at the centre of global conversations.

We believe in democratising education: Bringing the Far Away Near so that access to world-class knowledge is not bound by geography or privilege.

Through a dynamic programme led by world-class practitioners, we equip the next generation of storytellers with the tools, confidence and community to master their craft, define their vision and build sustainable careers.

The First Live Release from PLATFORM 2020

The Opening Chapter is an eight-week studio series designed to set the tone for what’s to come. We meet live each week for 90-minute Studio Critiques & Office Hours. This is a space for careful looking, honest feedback and practical next steps. Bring a project in progress, a body of work you’re trying to shape or a small edit you need help seeing clearly. This is where PLATFORM 2020 begins: with attention, craft and community, and with the belief that the work grows when it is met with care.
